What is The Maze?

The Maze is a week packed full of fun with our friends. Just because The Maze isn't happening in person, that doesn't mean the fun stops! The Virtual Maze will be running on Zoom for 5 mornings this year, with fun challenges to do in the afternoons from your own home. There's something for everyone with brilliant activities. Whether you're sporty, into craft or love a quiet game and a chat, you'll feel welcome at The Virtual Maze this summer!

At The Maze you'll meet inspiring leaders who are committed both to you having an aMAZEing week and to helping you learn more about who Jesus is. We all believe that Jesus' life over 2000 years ago is totally relevant to us today, so an important aim of the holiday is to know Jesus better. We do this through meeting in groups and all together to hear from the Bible, praising God and reflecting on what it means to follow Jesus. We can't wait to see you at The Maze!

Where and when?

On Zoom.

In 2021 the holiday is running on the mornings of Monday 26 to Friday 30 July.

The Team

Anna D first came to the Maze as a young person and has been coming back ever since. She has done many things at the Maze, including memorably leading netball. Cow photography has been another unique contribution! She is co-leader of the holiday with Chris.
Chris first came to The Maze in 2001 as a young person and 2021 will be his sixteenth year as a leader on the holiday. Chris co-leads the holiday with Anna D, which means that his main role is making sure that the rest of the leaders make it as fantastic as possible!
Nick Nick has been a leader on the holiday for many years and is married to Jo, who used to lead the Maze, but now is responsible for all of the holidays that SU runs. When not at the Maze he enjoys playing cricket for his local village team.
Anna S is the unstoppable force that makes the whole holiday happen. She handles bookings, finances, first aid, on site fun and cleaning. Anna runs a great range of craft activities through the week. She is a Strictly Come Dancing fan and loves to shout at the TV when the judges are wrong.
Ruth is responsible for looking after our 'Training Team' of young leaders and for keeping in touch with our prayer supporters. Ruth was brought along to The Maze as a young person by her parents Jo and Nick and has never escaped! Her passions include archaeology and supporting her local community.

All of our leaders are fully DBS checked with references. In addition, we all fully sign up to the the SU lifestyle agreement.

What we do

Small groups and teaching

Everyone on the holiday is in a small group - this is your team when we play games, and your discussion group for talking about God and the Bible.

We have teaching about God and the Bible. We want every person to be able to explore in more depth their relationship with God.

Our activities will be a bit different this year because we're on Zoom, but Maze favourites like aerobics, origami and Indian dancing will be available.
